LET’S TALK ABOUT DECOR

Let’s talk about decor for a moment.

Quite likely, you’ve been dreaming about your wedding for years, maybe even since you were very little.  You want your guests to be wowed.  You want your wedding and reception to be a fairy tale.  To a certain extent, many of us want to feel like Cinderella on our wedding day.

You want your wedding to be a reflection of who you are. Your wedding makes a statement to your guests about your personality and who you are as a couple. Your décor is a huge part of your personality and that statement.

Your wedding invitations are the first look your guests have to the theme and overall look your wedding will have. On your wedding day, the décor ties everything all together. From the moment your guests arrive and are greeted by the guest table to entering the venue and seeing your vision come to life.  You want them to be swept away. Décor is important! Flow, consistency, and continuity is important.

Close your eyes for a moment and think about your wedding day.  You’ve selected your color scheme.  You’ve selected your theme.  Picture in your mind how it will look and how it all comes together.  The ceiling drapery with twinkling lights and chandeliers, elegant centerpieces, your head table or sweetheart table, the lighted backdrop you’ve selected to go behind your head table.  It’s breathtaking.  It feels like a dream.  It’s exactly how you’ve always dreamed it would be and maybe even better.

And then … there it is. Maybe it’s in the corner.  Maybe it’s up on the stage.  You know it’s necessary.  There’s no denying it.  No reception is complete without it.  You need music.  It’s your DJ and their set up. Speakers, laptop, sub-woofer, light stands, lights, wires, wires and more wires. It’s technical, clunky, and unattractive.   The fairy tale you dreamed about is diminished by the very unappealing set up of the DJ.  Does the DJ’s set up have to detract from your fairy tale; from your vision?

No.  Not at all.

Many DJ’s recognize that the wedding industry in Sudbury has changed. Décor is now a significant part of a couple’s budget. As one of Sudbury’s Premier DJ Services, we don’t want to detract from your overall look, we want to compliment it. How do we do that? Adding stand covers, table covers, table toppers, and up-lighting makes all the difference. This small change to a DJ’s set up, dramatically changes the look, complimenting the décor, no longer looking like an eye sore.

The Canadian Professional Disc Jockey Association has several members here in Sudbury that tuned in to the concerns of couples regarding their wedding reception. We realize that flow and consistency is important and, while the technical aspect of what we provide is necessary, there is a way to soften that look.

Check with the DJ you’re interested in hiring. Ask the questions about décor. What do they have to offer that compliments the look you and your decorator have worked on. Is it included in their packages?

Opening up the dialogue with the DJ you’re interested in hiring provide the information as to whether or not the DJ, their personality, their set up and respect of you as the client, will be an asset to the vision of one of the most important days in your life.
